— A craftsman's brand, built to outlive its craftsman —
Commissioned hardwood furniture, handcrafted in Bengaluru by Murali Velu Achar — a third-generation Vishwakarma woodworker.
The craftsman
My grandfather made the doors of temples. My father made furniture for houses that are still standing. I was given a chisel at eleven and was told that the wood was older than I was, and that it would be older than me again.
For forty years I have worked with teak, rosewood, sheesham, and mango — wood that was alive longer than most people I meet. I do not use nails where a joint will do. I do not use glue where a peg will do. I do not use a machine where a hand will do — because the hand remembers, and the machine does not.
Everything I make, I make once. Every commission begins with a conversation, a tree, and a promise. The promise is that what I hand over will last longer than I do.

The workshop
The workshop is a small, working space in Bengaluru. Wood is stacked by species, tools hang from the wall, and a commission is always on the bench.
Come see a piece in progress. Touch the grain of the wood. Meet Murali and his sons. Chai is always on.
